Happy Children`s Day!

When I was little my grandfather used to read me a story each day. He wasn`t doing this because he had to, he did it because he felt so. I could tell this by the look on his face, he was happier. When he was opening those books I knew that he was changing into a little kid.
I felt very, very privileged because, for a little while, I was offering him the opportunity to enter into the world of fantasy, where everything seemed better. Of couse, he could have opened those books and could have read the stories by himself, but with me he wasn`t alone anymore. He was like a kid who found a friend to play with.
Adults showed me they knew everything and I had to learn from them. However, my grandfather proved me that an adult can be taught by a kid how to be little again.
Now, after almost 20 years I still feel like a kid. Everytime my niece and nephew come by I get the chance to act like a little girl, watch cartoons or children movies and play cards. To them, to me, and to all the kids in the world: happy children`s day!!!

Otelul Galati

I am not a football fan, and I am not a Galati lover either. I complain a lot about this area in which I was born and raised, due to the simple fact that it has hardly ever been noticed as succeding in any field.
As most of the girls, I prefer staring at a wall rather than watching some boys running after a ball. So, trust me, I know nothing about football.
But today something happened. As I was coming back from the supermarket I saw many people smiling, singing and laughing, you know, being happy. People of all ages gathered to celebrate the Romanian champions, our local team, Otelul Galati for winning all the games between the Romanian football teams.
So I noticed that people were celebrating themselves, along with celebrating the local team. Those football players have fought to make us all happy for what we are, people from Galati. And this is why I ought to thank them.

Din cand in cand, imi aduc aminte ca am un loc al meu in imensitatea web si revin aici sa-mi scriu gandurile. Imi place foarte mult tema asta noua, Vertigo.

Slam by Nick Hornby

I haven`t read a 293 page book in a week since a long, long time. I just couldn`t put it down.
I love Nick Hornby`s style, very simple, stirring and humourous. “Slam” is about teenage pregnancy, seen through the eyes of a 16 year old father.
Nick Hornby manages to present the story in such a way that makes the readers look at the characters, Sam and Alicia, with sympathy, care and concern. This is why I think this book is so good. Typically, people tend to judge the young parents, being ready to give the “irresponsible adolescents” an earful. In my opinion the beauty of the book consists in the attempt to make everyone understand the problem of teenage preganancy. So that maybe in the future, the awareness of the situation will lead to a better communication between parents and children and between adolescents.
One of the things that I really enjoyed about this book was the humour. One would expect a tragic story to be told in a sad way, but Nick Hornby injected the pages with the hopefullness of youth.
Another thing that I loved about “Slam” was the unexpected, the fact that although the situation was clear enough, I still wasn`t able to say what would happen next.
So if you want a story that makes you laugh and worry about its characters at the same time, this is the right book for you. I strongly recommend it and I warn everyone that this book surely is addictive.
